| The purpose and formation of this league is to get Southern Colorado wrestlers mat time in an affordable and well run tournament format on Saturdays in the Fall. This league could and should be a strong, local, Saturday opportunity for wrestlers in the Springs. HOSTING A TOURNAMENT: In order to advertise on PPWL a tournament director/coach must request a date on a first come first serve basis. The hosting tournament director/coach must provide an email and or fax number to all coaches via www.pikespeakwrestling.com no later than the Sunday prior to their tournament. EMAILED ENTRANTS: All entrants must be emailed or faxed by no later than 10 am on the Friday prior to the tournament. Weigh-ins are conducted by your coach prior to all tournaments (this is done to quicken the tournaments and alleviate all chances of cutting weight, as weight classed are determined after all entrants are entered). CHECK IN: Check in at least 30 minutes prior to tournament start time. (Ideally a short clinic followed by a warm up period will cover this time) INSURANCE: Must have a full USA Wrestling card and must present this at check in. Each club will be responsible for getting their own cards online at www.themat. com BRACKETS: Round robin format in any bracket with less than 5 wrestlers (criteria used for placing). K-1: Four man brackets, all others are eight man brackets FORMAT: Grades k-1 have 30-second periods and 10 pt tech falls Grades 2-5 have 60-second periods and 10 pt tech falls Grades 6-8 have 90-second periods and 15 pt tech falls All overtimes are 60-second with a 30-second tie breaker if necessary – Sudden Death. Not mandated format but suggested. All overtimes are 30 seconds, flip coin. One on top, one on bottom. GATE FEES: No more than $5 for adults $3 for students. Under 6 free. Coaches get in free with a visible USA coaches card. WEIGH-INS: All entrants will have their weights emailed by their coach to the tournament director no later than Friday at 10am. At the tournament, up to 10% of the wrestlers may be randomly selected at check ins to weigh in. Coaches may challenge a wrestlers weight by paying a $10.00 non-refundable fee. Wrestlers must weigh with singlets on. If found to be more than 3 pounds over bracket weight, the wrestler is disqualified with no re-entry and the challenge fee returned. K-5: is 3lbs variation and 6-8 is 5lbs weight variation. EACH COACH: Is requested to fill out a tournament evaluation and improvement form for each tournament. |
